Meet Jessica Tepper, author of “Deceitful Reflection”

Tell us what your book, “Deceitful Reflection” is about!

Sure! Here’s the summary:

After discovering her husband's betrayal, Amelia seeks a fresh start, but hidden secrets and a long-lost twin force her to confront the lies threatening to destroy everything.

What did you love most about writing this book?

One of my dreams/goals was to write and publish a book and what I loved about writing this book was the complete process. Some parts were better than others but the writing, editing, formatting, cover design, etc.... was the fun part.

How did you start writing?

I took a master class on writing fiction and I had an idea for a story and just went for it.

Tell us a little bit about your self-publishing experience.

It was all about the journey. Some parts came easy and were fun like cover design. There was some parts that were annoying like the formatting. But I wouldn't trade it in because it taught me valuable lessons that I am taking for my second book.

What was your biggest challenge in bringing the book to market and how did you solve it?

Social Media and marketing. I don't really ever post much on platforms like FB and Insta so understanding how it all works and then diving into the world of TikTok, specifically BookTok. I haven't solved the problem per se, I would say a work in progress.

What's one piece of advice you have for other writers?

Keep going. It's all about the journey. Learn how to do the uncomfortable things and thrive in the areas you are good at.
