Meanwhile dealing with romance, and school.

What did you love most about writing this book?

The battle between good and evil within the main character.

How did you start writing?

I started writing when I was in jail. I had a rough childhood and made some bad decisions. When my Nana died a couple years ago I found a blurb about this book when cleaning out her house. I was like you know what let's do this. Now I have this one published. The second book is written and in editing. And a third book I'm currently writing.

Tell us a little bit about your self-publishing experience.

It was rough. I had one friend along the way who helped me edit the book and focus on most of it. But I succeeded regardless. My goal to get my story out in the world was strong.

What was your biggest challenge in bringing the book to market and how did you solve it?

Bullying. For sure. I've had some horrible reviews, horrible words said against me and my book. A Lot of people in the world just want to knock everyone down. I deleted Goodreads, I've put a lot of so-called friends behind me, and made my circle smaller. I tried Discords but they became cult-like and the favoritism was strong, and it was more stress and overthinking than help. Now I focus on my three good friends and them for any help, and to run my ideas off of. I decided sometimes the more trust you have in a few the less your mind wanders to all those who don't deserve you.

What's one piece of advice you have for other writers?

Keep going. Don't give up. Write the story you want, not that others want. I know that it's easy to follow trends and such but that's how you end up hating your writing. Write what you love, what's in your heart. And don't let anyone take the light from you.

Anything else you want folks to know?

Make the world you see in your head. Because I want to read your creative words, I want to see your glow on the pages. Don't give up.
