Tell us what your book, “The Luckiest Dog on the Porch,” is about!
Sure! Here’s the summary:
Adult memoir: a Detroit childhood, Vietnam-era U.S. Air Force flying, and the hard work of coming home. Luck as preparation meeting opportunity. Not YA.
What did you love most about writing this book?
Returning to the ordinary after service—the porch, the dog, the people—and writing it honestly without turning war into spectacle.
How did you start writing?
Jacob wrote from lived memory: Detroit beginnings, Air Force training and Vietnam-era missions, then homecoming, education, and creative reinvention.
